Safety

Last updated: 16 August 2026

Anonymous, voice-first conversation only works if it's safe. Here's how we approach that, and what to do if something goes wrong.

1. Listener vetting

Listeners go through an application, an interview, and training in empathetic, non-judgmental listening before they're allowed to take calls. They check in with our team regularly, and can be removed at any time for policy violations.

2. Leave, block, or report — anytime

You can leave any call instantly, with no explanation needed. If a listener or participant makes you uncomfortable, you can block them from future calls, or report them so our safety team can review the report and take action, up to a permanent ban.

3. What not to share

Anonymity protects you, but only if you keep it that way. Avoid sharing your full name, phone number, address, workplace, or social media handles on a call — with listeners or other participants.

4. Zero tolerance

Harassment, threats, hate speech, sexual content directed at another user, or attempts to move a conversation off-platform to contact someone directly are all grounds for an immediate ban.

5. If you're in crisis

TalkYaaro is peer support, not an emergency or medical service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, please contact local emergency services, or call Tele-MANAS at 14416, India's 24/7 mental health helpline.

6. Minors

The Service is for users 18 and older. If we become aware that an account belongs to a minor, we will remove it.

7. Contact our safety team
