How to become a Talk Yaaro host
What Talk Yaaro hosts do, what you need to join, how verification works, how hosts earn and get paid, and tips for your first weeks as a listener.
Some people are natural listeners. Friends call them when something goes wrong; cousins confide in them; strangers somehow end up telling them their life story on a train. If that sounds like you, being a Talk Yaaro host might be a good fit. Here's what the role involves and how to join.
What a host does
Talk Yaaro hosts are verified listeners. People come to the app when they want to talk without being judged — about stress, a bad day, a relationship, loneliness, or just life. As a host, you can listen in three ways:
- 1-on-1 voice calls: go online when you're free and take private calls. Users see your host profile, never your phone number or KYC details.
- Chat: reply to users who'd rather type than talk, in text or with a voice note.
- Live audio rooms: open a room, talk with everyone who joins, and bring up to 6 listeners up to speak when they raise a hand. You can remove anyone who crosses the line.
A listener, not a therapist
You don't need a counselling or psychology degree. Talk Yaaro offers emotional support, not therapy, and hosts are verified community members — not licensed professionals. Your job is to listen with patience, warmth and respect, without lectures or judgment. Part of doing it well is knowing your limits: if someone is in crisis, gently point them to Tele-MANAS at 14416 or emergency services at 112.
Who it suits
- You are 18 or older.
- You're comfortable talking in at least one of our 12 languages.
- You're patient, and genuinely interested in people.
- You can keep conversations private and respectful.
- You have a phone and a quiet place to talk.
How to join, step by step
- Get the Partner app. The Talk Yaaro Partner app is coming soon — leave your email on our Become a Host page and we'll let you know when it's ready.
- Record your voice audition. A short recording so our team can hear how you speak. It also becomes the voice intro users can play on your profile, so record somewhere quiet and just be yourself.
- Complete KYC. Submit your PAN, bank account details and a signed partner agreement. This is how users know every host is a real, reviewed person.
- Finish your training. Short in-app learning modules cover empathetic, non-judgmental listening.
- Get approved and go online. Our team reviews your audition and KYC. Once you're approved, tap online whenever you're ready to listen.
How hosts earn
There's no investment needed. Hosts earn a share of what users spend with them: every paid call minute, every chat message a user sends them, and every gift they receive — on calls and in live rooms. On top of that there are bonuses, such as an online-time bonus and daily chat milestones. Higher host levels earn higher per-minute rates on calls. The exact terms are set out in your partner agreement and shown in the Partner app.
Earnings depend on your paid call minutes, chat messages and gifts, your level and your ratings. They vary and are not guaranteed.
How you get paid
Every 10 days, your balance is paid automatically to your UPI ID — as long as your KYC is approved and your balance is above the minimum withdrawal amount. If you need money sooner, you can also request a withdrawal yourself in the app once you're above the minimum.
Tips for your first few weeks
- Record a warm voice intro. It's the first thing many users hear — speak naturally, as if you're greeting a friend.
- Go online when you can give full attention. A quiet room and no distractions make a real difference to the person on the other end.
- Listen more than you speak. Ask open questions, reflect back what you hear, and let silences be.
- Protect everyone's privacy. Never ask for or share phone numbers, social media handles, UPI IDs or addresses — our Community & Host Guidelines explain why.
- Look after yourself too. Listening can be heavy. Take breaks, go offline when you need to, and talk to someone yourself if a conversation stays with you.

Going through something heavy?
Talk Yaaro is emotional support, not a medical or crisis service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 112. For support any time, call Tele-MANAS at 14416, India's 24/7 mental health helpline.
