Why Talk Yaaro exists
Most of us carry things we don't say out loud. A worry about work or exams. A fight at home. A relationship that ended. A new city where nobody knows your name. Or just a long day you'd like to put down somewhere.
Often, the people closest to us are the hardest ones to tell. We worry about being judged, about being a burden, about it coming up again later. So the thoughts go round and round, late at night, with nowhere to go.
Talk Yaaro is a place to put them down. You pick a nickname and talk to a real person whose job, in that moment, is simply to listen — with warmth, without lectures, and in your own language. Call them, message them if typing feels easier, or just sit in on a live audio room and listen for free.
Why anonymous
Being honest is easier when nobody knows who you are. On Talk Yaaro, hosts see your nickname and never your phone number. You don't need a photo or a profile to keep up, and call audio is never recorded. You can end a call or leave a room at any moment, no explanation needed.
Why verified listeners
Anonymity only works if you can trust who's on the other side. So every host records a voice audition, completes KYC — PAN, bank details and a signed partner agreement — and goes through training on empathetic, non-judgmental listening before our team approves them. Hosts can be suspended or removed for breaking our Community Guidelines.
Support, not therapy
We're clear about what we are. Talk Yaaro offers emotional support — a kind voice and a patient ear. Our hosts are verified community members, not licensed mental health professionals, and a conversation here is not a substitute for professional care. If things feel too heavy to carry, we'll always point you to people who can help.
The name
In Hindi and Urdu, yaar means friend. Talk Yaaro is an invitation: talk, friends. Someone is here to listen.
Going through something heavy?
Talk Yaaro is emotional support, not a medical or crisis service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 112. For support any time, call Tele-MANAS at 14416, India's 24/7 mental health helpline.
